Local veteran twice wounded in Iraq receive free bed to help him sleep through the night

Albuquerque, NM, March 14, 2008, former veteran Albuquerque, Sergeant Charles Wyatt, USAF (Ret.) was wounded in Iraq twice, in 2004 and again in 2006. His work has been a heavy, mechanical, and its first deployment, he worked in a Humvee and a mortar came in and sent a bounce of a brick wall. In his second deployment the truck in which he worked was under fire, and collapsed on him, leaving severe burns and nerve damage.

"I had joined the U.S. Army in 2001 and was in basic training for 9 / 11 happened "Wyatt recalled." I was deployed in 2003 with Master 53rd quarter and was sent to Baghdad for a year. When I arrived at the time of service home is my place, I re-enlisted in the 150th Fighter lane in the Air Force. I returned to Iraq in 2006 for a six-month deployment. "

His first injury took place two weeks before his unit was returning home in 2004. His second injury also came two weeks before his unit was to return home.

"I guess it had something to mark two weeks, I felt hurt there," joked Wyatt. "The two times I recovered in a hospital in Iraq and then came home with my unit. The second time, in 2006, I dismissed his home in Albuquerque to recover from my local VA center because my injuries were too severe remain at work. "

Wyatt was given a medical discharge in October 2006 and received a degree of disability of 80% of VA. As was discharged from the army, Wyatt's life has changed dramatically.

"I used to make pretty good money as a mechanic, but now I work as a foreman Albuquerque Freightliner, because I can hand over the keys, "said Wyatt." I can not sleep at night, almost every nap. Constantly waking up from nightmares and pain. "

This week, Wyatt was given a free Craftmatic ® Adjustable Bed because of their brave sacrifice and military service through the Craftmatic Cares program.

A recent 2007 survey indicates that 92% of severely wounded soldiers report having difficulty sleeping, so it gives a new Craftmatic adjustable bed a week in 2008 to a war against terror seriously wounded veteran to help them sleep more soundly.

Wyatt said he missed the bed again, but in reality it is the hope that now, could be able to sleep all night.

"I'm very excited about our new bed, and I know that my wife Kristin is too much. Hope I can now sleep for hours, instead of taking naps during short periods of time, "said Wyatt.

"Craftmatic is very honored to donate bed this week Sergeant Charles Wyatt," said Eric Kraftsow, elevated bed, the owners of the Craftmatic trademark LLC. "The Craftmatic Cares program has been designed as a way for society to give back to those who have given so much of themselves for our freedom. Mr. Wyatt is a perfect candidate because his injuries prevented him from sleeping a good night. We hope that now he will be able to awaken renovated. "
